Social Media Policy

Bankstown Sports Baseball Club  –  Social Media Policy.

As part of Bankstown Sports Baseball Club “Code of Conduct” we have a specific policy for players, parents and volunteers utilizing social media when making reference to the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club.

Failure to observe this policy can result in players and parents being disciplined or removed as club players and/or members. 

“Social networking”. This includes making comments on sites relating to the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club, players, parents and officials. The sites include Facebook, Our club website and Twitter or any site where there is a specific reference made to the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club, its players, parents or officials.

What is not acceptable social networking behaviour. The following behavior is unacceptable when posting comments about our club, its players, parents and officials;

Any comment that can be taken as being racist or derogatory towards a person religion or ethnicity.
Any comment that can be taken as “bullying” of another Bankstown Sports Baseball player, parent or official.
Any comment that can be taken as being unfair in its criticism of a Bankstown Sports baseball player, parent or official.

What is acceptable social networking  behaviour. The following behavior is acceptable when posting comments about our club, its players or officials.
Any comment that actively promotes the benefits of being involved with our club.
Any comment that actively promotes or highlights the achievements of the club, its players, parents or officials.
Any comment that actively encourages players, parents, officials to do and perform at their best.

Responsibility to protect your confidential information online. The club asks that you only promote information that is in the public domain and not to disclose any information passed onto you as either confidential to club or one of its players. An example of this is not to post information about a representative selection until the official announcement has been made.

Consequences for violating this policy. Any person(s) found to be violating the Bankstown Sports Baseball Clubs social media policy can be either;
Asked to remove the offending comments.
A note will be made in the players/parents/official file.
Delisted by the club.

Discipline approach for breaches of the policy. In the instance of any person(s) found to be violating the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club social media policy the following actions are to take place.
A formal complaint needs to be registered with the club secretary or president.
A copy of the offending materials needs to accompany the complaint.
The club secretary/president will assemble a team of 3 committee members to review the complaint and the material.
The review committee members will hand their findings to the person making the complaint and take any recommended action.
The alleged offender does have the right to respond to the allegations and/or the punishment handed out.
